Yoga/Pilates Session 1 Option 1 Begins09/07/2010

Guitar Boot Camp Session 1 Begins09/07/2010

Students jump in with both feet learning the basics; the parts of the guitar, notes on strings, basic chords, basic songs and basic scales in a fun-filled atmosphere! Students learn the very techniques they need to jam with their friends from the first lesson! This class is in conjunction with TD Clark Productions and promises to provide an excellent introduction into the world of guitars and music. Students must provide their own guitar. Also, students will be asked to pay $15 for a music book at the first class, which they will be able to keep.

Stretch & Relaxation Session 1 Begins09/07/2010

Class will begin with a gentle warm up and move into deep, controlled stretching. You will learn breathing techniques for improved relaxation during your stretch. Positive self talk and use of imagery will be used throughout the class. Your flexibility is sure to improve while letting the stretch of the day relax your body.

A.G.T. (Abs, Glutes, and Thighs) Option 2 Begins09/07/2010

This class is great for strength and conditioning and will focus mainly on those tough areas, including abdominals, gluteals, and thighs! Steps, weights, resistance tubes, body bars, stability balls and your own body weight will be used to tone your lower body. Aerobics participants can use their punch cards.

Is your youth interested in learning to play guitar? Have a guitar, but gave up? Here is your chance to learn to play from a professional in a friendly, stress free environment. TD Clark Productions will provide the high quality instruction in a format that stresses fun and learning. Each student will be taught basic chords, sight reading, and songs. Every student must have their own guitar. At the first class, each student will be asked to pay $15.00 for a song book which they will keep after the class.

Infuse yourself in the martial “Art” of Tae Kwon Do. This program has been in existence since 2000. It is taught by founding instructors, Brad Osborn, a 5th Degree black belt with over 32 years experience, head instructor Cindy McKay, 3rd degree black belt with 18 years experience, and assistant instructor Scott Montavon. a 2nd degree black belt with more than 9 years of teaching experience. Along with several other 2nd and 1st degree black belts, this program holds over 150 combined years of instructional experience in the art of Tae Kwon Do. Uniforms, sparring gear, and promotional testing fees are provided for a minimal of cost. • Uniforms $ 30.00 • Sparring gear $ 45.00 includes helmet, chest protector, forearm guards, shin guards, and mouth guard. • Low testing fees. • NO CONTRACTS! The progression of a student’s rank is based on the time, effort, and dedication they invest in themselves and their training; not by how much money they spend. The Park Districts Senior Hoofers will be spending mornings walking around our beautiful Lake Sycamore each Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning and getting in shape while having fun. Participants will receive t-shirts and prizes at the end of the summer to reward walkers according to how many miles they hoof. There will be an informational meeting at the Community Center on August 30th at 6:00 pm to discuss the program and hand out mileage sheets. Advanced Kajukenbo Karate Session 1 Begins09/09/2010

Born in Hawaii in 1947, Kajukenbo is America’s first martial art. Kajukenbo is a hybrid art with elements of Karate, Judo, Kenpo and Kung Fu. The founding fathers of Kajukenbo pooled their knowledge of their respective arts and developed and tested their techniques through encounters in the most dangerous parts of Hawaii. Kajukenbo became known as “the fine art of dirty street fighting”. Kajukenbo practitioners are taught that the best defense is to be aware of your surroundings and avoid situations that might lead to harm but, they are prepared to defend themselves if needed. Kajukenbo recognizes the differences in people (age, size, and physical ability) and promotes the exploration and enhancement of their abilities. In addition to self-defense, the class has the objectives of instilling confidence and promoting respect in the student for him/her-self and others. It is also ideally suited as a family activity as participants are encouraged to practice together at home. David and Betty Polak, certified 4th degree black belts through the Kajukenbo Self Defense Institute, teach the class.

Riders will ride in a western saddle and learn a balanced way to ride that will enable them to continue in western tack or move on to riding in English tack. Marie Hoffman has been teaching riding professionally for the past 38 years and is an expert in horse science. The farm features well trained SAFE horses and even an indoor area with a heated viewing area. All riders must wear long pants and shoes or boots with heels. Weight Loss Challenge Option 1 Begins09/20/2010

Join Sycamore’s very own “Biggest Loser Challenge” just like on TV! This 12-week program provides: • Proper nutrition coaching • Meal replacement options • Encouragement to exercise • Group support • Metabolism and body composition test The WLC is a 12-week program meeting together weekly for an hour to learn about proper nutrition, how to improve eating habits and learn exactly how many calories a day your body burns. This new information will teach how to lose weight and keep it off. The goal is to have participants living healthy with vim, vigor and vitality for the rest of their lives. Because of all the helpful information attendance at the weekly meetings is a KEY factor in ensuring success. Each week participants will weigh-in and consult with the coaches, who help along the way, offering various meal replacement options to help reach ideal weight and body composition. The program encourages participants to eat a healthy level of protein and calories each day and teaches the benefits of good nutrition. Topics include: protein, carbohydrates, water and digestion, vitamins, dining out, exercise, sugar, healthy oils and more. Each person will receive personalized coaching. Prize money will be paid out by check after week 12. Specific rules will be in place to keep everyone consistent. Previous contests ended with an average weight-loss of over 19 pounds and over 10 inches per person! Depending on the number of participants, winnings in previous contests have ranged from $450.00-$1,000.00. Discover the joy of paper crafting one-of-a-kind creations with rubber stamps, ink, and paper. In this class, we will explore variations on solid images, color line images, and even add heat embossing for “bling”. It provides a world of discovery and teaches basic tumbling skills such as: forward rolls, straddle rolls, log rolls, backward rolls, cartwheels, tripods, headstands, and much more. Weight Loss Challenge Option 2 Begins09/22/2010

Join Sycamore’s very own “Biggest Loser Challenge” just like on TV! This 12-week program provides: • Proper nutrition coaching • Meal replacement options • Encouragement to exercise • Group support • Metabolism and body composition test The WLC is a 12-week program meeting together weekly for an hour to learn about proper nutrition, how to improve eating habits and learn exactly how many calories a day your body burns. This new information will teach how to lose weight and keep it off. The goal is to have participants living healthy with vim, vigor and vitality for the rest of their lives. Because of all the helpful information attendance at the weekly meetings is a KEY factor in ensuring success. Each week participants will weigh-in and consult with the coaches, who help along the way, offering various meal replacement options to help reach ideal weight and body composition. The program encourages participants to eat a healthy level of protein and calories each day and teaches the benefits of good nutrition. Topics include: protein, carbohydrates, water and digestion, vitamins, dining out, exercise, sugar, healthy oils and more. Each person will receive personalized coaching. Prize money will be paid out by check after week 12. Specific rules will be in place to keep everyone consistent. Previous contests ended with an average weight-loss of over 19 pounds and over 10 inches per person! Depending on the number of participants, winnings in previous contests have ranged from $450.00-$1,000.00.
